Coat Weather

Winter was only giving us a warning a couple of days ago, but now is fast approaching. Luckily, we can still enjoy beautiful sunny days in South Africa, as the temperatures drop.

Although the days are sunny, during the colder months, our wardrobes tend to take a grey & dark turn. If you are keeping to the neutral color tendencies, it's time to brighten up your mood & bundle up with vivid pieces.

A coat doesn't only add a layer of warmth, but is a great accessory to your outfit. There are so many styles, from chic to edgy, that you could have a coat for every occasion.

I know some coats can make you feel like you are wearing a sack of potatoes, but the right coat lends a flattering silhouette, you just need to find what length & shape works best for your frame.

Call me romantic, I love capes. I'm not sure if it's because of the Little Red Riding Hood story, which was one of my favorite books to read as a little girl. Capes are a timeless trend & so versatile, great for transitional seasons. They add an interesting element to winter layering, with an elegant flair.

I've had this Cape Coat from Zara for a couple of years, I haven't worn it too often, as I used to think the color was a bit bright for winter. However, after looking for my jackets this year, as the season changes, seeing this red hot coat in my closet, made me feel vibrant & happy. That's exactly how I want to feel the whole of winter!
